Who is Joey Novick?

Attorney, Elected Official, Stand-up Comedian, Trained in Mediation

Since 1995, Joey has served his community as an elected Councilman in Flemington, NJ. He graduated Seton Hall School of Law in May of 2005 and passed the New Jersey Bar Exam in February 2006 on his first try. Joey also attended the Advanced Mediation techniques course given by the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. He is an honors graduate of the prestigious Leadership New Jersey Fellowship Program.

He has taught hundreds of public and elected officials  from around the country the benefits of skills derived of improvisation.

Since 1979, Joey has been a much sought-after speaker, trainer and seminar leader. As a professional stand-up comedian and improv actor, he's appeared on MTV, Rascal's Comedy Hour, One Life to Live and Comedy Central. He's been featured regularly at Catch A Rising Star, The Comedy Zone and Dangerfield's and at scores of comedy venues across the country. He's opened in concert for comedy legends Jerry Seinfield, Ray Romano, Paul Reiser, Chris Rock, Robert Klein and Rosie O'Donnell.

He is an award winning speaker, having been presented with the Leadership New Jersey Progam Development Award for his United Nations conference program.

Improv Actor, Improv Director, Comedy Writer

As an improv actor, he's had the privilege of appearing with Robin Williams at the Comic Strip in NYC, and studied with Chicago's famed 'Second City' improvisational theater director and improv guru, Del Close. Additionally, Joey studied with legendary improv director Paul Sills, Second City training director Martin deMaat, the Loose Moose Theater Company and Martin Harvey Friedburg at the Improvisation comedy club in NYC. And Joey was hired by the Ricki Lake Show as a comedy coach for young comedians.

As a workshop director, Joey has taught improv for more than twenty years for several improv groups and improvisation conferences including ComedyWorks in NYC, the Spontaneous Combustion Festival in Kansas City, The Stress Factory comedy club in NJ, and at the New School for Social Research.

Joey's corporate clients include many Fortune 500 companies including AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, MetLife and Merrill Lynch. Many government groups including the National League of Cities and the National Association of County Officials have benefited from his humor training. His humor workshops have been prominently featured in the New York Times, the AP Newswire, Washington Post, Newark Star-Ledger, on ABC News and National Public Radio.

Graduates include award-winning comedy writers for TV sitcoms, lawyers, teachers, psychologists, public officials, corporate executives, and many other outstanding humor speakers/trainers. The New York Association for Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Hunterdon County Bar Association and the Middlesex County Bar Association in New Jersey have all utilized Joey Novick as a program presenter for his Improv for Lawyers workshop. Recently, Joey presented Improvisation workshops at Touro College School of Law, sponsored by Barbri, the leading bar exam preparation program in the country.
